Abstract

The machine runs on rails (3, 4) alongside and between two or more piles. The outer rails (3) are joined at one end by a semicircular section. The machine comprises a gantry (1) with scraping arms (2). At one end the gantry is supported by a chassis (7) running on the inner rails (4) passing over a central conveyor belt (8). The end of the gantry (9) is connected to the chassis by a bearing ring and a central shaft (10, 11). The gantry pivots so as to accommodate differences in height and spacing between the rails (3, 4). The retrieved material passes through the chassis via a channel (12). The weight of the machine is evenly distributed on the inner rails (4).
