Abstract

798,819. Windscreen washers. LUCAS (INDUSTRIES), Ltd., I. Sept. 14, 1956 [Oct. 29, 1955], No. 30993/55. Class 138(1). [Also in Group XXVIII] A windscreen washing pump comprises a bulb formed in two parts from rubber-like material, the one part a being adapted for actuation by the user, and the other part e having a pipe connection f formed thereon ; the two parts being connected by engagement of an annular groove in the one part by a complementary peripheral portion on the other part, and one of the parts having attachment means d integral therewith. As described, the one part a has a pad b which may be depressed by foot and in which the underside c constitutes a projecting boss, and a flange d for securing the bulb to a vehicle floor. An annular groove adjacent the flange d mates with a correspondingly shaped annular ridge on the other part e forming a liquid tight connection which may be made permanent by use of an adhesive. The other part e is preferably of more rigid rubber material then the one part a, and a hollow stem f is formed in its base and is connected to a tank of cleansing liquid by a pipe provided with suction and discharge valves. In another embodiment, the flange d is formed on the other part e which is also provided with an annular socket mating with an annular ridge on the one part a, Fig. 3 (not shown).
