Abstract

798,215. Discharge apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. March 11, 1955 [March 13, 1954], No. 7232/55. Class 39(1). High-tension terminals of a discharge tube are arranged inside a metal sleeve, itself at a high potential, and having rounded rims, to prevent corona discharge. In the drawing, 1 is a high-tension rectifier whose heater leads are soldered to lugs 3 on an insulating plate 4 ; the conductors 6 and the h-t cable 7 are also attached to these lugs. The surrounding sleeve 5 is conductively connected to the h-t cable, so that its interior forms a field-free space. The sleeve 5 slides into a recess in a mounting plate 8 ; the plate may also have a notch for supporting the conductors 6.
