Abstract
798,097. Xerographic development. BATTELLE DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Nov. 1, 1954 [Nov. 23, 1953], No. 31472/54. Drawings to Specification. Class 98(2) [Also in Group XL(a)] A xerographic latent image is developed by means of a luminescent powder, to give an image which is visible against any background by irradiation with activating rays such as ultra-violet light. Developer powders specified are luminescent forms of the oxides of zinc, aluminium, magnesium, beryllium, strontium, silicon, calcium, titanium, zinc-magnesium, zinc-aluminium, cadmium-aluminium and magnesium titanium; the sulphides of zinc, cadmium, calcium, strontium, rubidium, zinc-cadmium and calcium-strontium, and selenides, silicates, tungstates and phosphates of such metals and mixed metals, including barium or calcium selenides, calcium silicate, zinc orthosilicate, cadmium metasilicate, magnesium, cadmium, zinc or calcium-lead tungstates, and cadmium, zinc or aluminium phosphates; borates and halides of cadmium, zinc, aluminium, sodium, lithium, potassum, copper, lead, mercury manganese and thallium; nitrides platinocyanides, uranyl salts, siloxene compounds, fluorescein, casin, naphthionic acids, naphthalene, rhodamine, riboflavin, anthracene, violanthene, benzopyrene, benzofuran, aluminium or magnesium salts of 8 - hydroxyquinoline, and calcium carbonate mixed with aminoethanoic acid, uric acid or hippuric acid. An apparatus is described wherein the developer powder is blown by compressed air through a nozzle and on to the latent image to be developed. Specifications 679,715, 782,162 and U.S.A. Specification 2,221,776 are referred to.
