797,956. Welding by fusion. PECQUET, TESSON & CIE. Dec. 19, 1955 [Dec. 20, 1954], No. 36276/55. Class 83 (4). In a method of welding two members in which a backing is used, the backing is of a material having a lower melting point than the members and is removed by melting after the members have been welded. Gas or arc welding with a flux can be used. The method may be used in the welding of steel gas cylinders in which case the backing is of aluminium or aluminium alloy and is melted and removed when the welded cylinder is annealed.
