Abstract

<FORM:0797538/IV (b)/1> Apparatus for the liquid treatment of textile yarns comprises an outer steam-sheated container 1 holding the liquid, a tank 2 suspended by lugs 3 in the container and divided by longitudinal partitions into compartments, preferably one compartment for each yarn being treated, a pair of rollers 18 feeding the yarns into the tank 2, and a pair of take-off rollers 21 which are independently driven, the yarns being allowed to lie loosely on the curved bottom of the tank in their respective compartments while passing through the tank, treatment liquid being supplied to the tank at the yarn inlet end and withdrawn at the yarn outlet end. A spray pipe 12 above a trough 10 in the tank 2 is supplied by a pump 14 with liquid from the container 1, the liquid overflowing from the trough 10 and washing the yarns down into the tank as they are fed thereinto by the rollers 18 and a winch 19. An outlet pipe 6 is pivoted at its lower end to the tank and may be inclined by a lever 8 slidable in a rotatable boss 9 to adjust the overflow height and the level of the liquid in the tank. A number of units, each comprising a tank and a container and so on, may be used to provide successive treatments with the same or a different liquid.
