Abstract

796,680. Moulding pipe parts. ROBINSON CLAY PRODUCT CO. Nov. 7, 1955, No. 31728/55. Class 87(2). [Also in Group XXVIII] Apparatus for moulding joint structures of a polyvinyl chloride plastisol around the end of a pipe 15 of metal or, e.g., clay, comprises a centering ring 18 of rubber secured to a base plate 17, a lower two-part mould 20 having an internal screw-thread 23, preferably tapered, the halves of the mould being separable by screw 26 abutting projections 25, and an upper two-part mould 27 including a plug 33 provided with an external screwthread 33a and a neck 33b whereby the plug is withdrawn, by rotation thereof, from the moulded structure ; ears 35 secured to the plug underlie ears 36 attached to the mould 27 so that the latter is suspended from the plug. The halves of the mould 27 also are separable by screws 32 in abutment with projections 31. An annular rubber gasket 34 is fitted inside the pipe and against the plug, and a gasket 38 held in place by pins 39 is located at the lower face of the mould 27, these gaskets preventing leakage of the plastisol poured into the annular space 37.
