Abstract

796,502. Door-operating appliances. GOLMET DOORS, Ltd., [formerly BESHAM, Ltd.]. June 19, 1956 [June 21, 1955], No. 17909/55. Class 65(1) [Also in Group X] An overhead opening door 10 of thin sheet metal such as aluminium, corrugated transversely at 12 and 15, runs in vertical channels 27, grooved to receive antifriction rollers 17, 22, 23 bracketed to the corrugations 15, the top 18 and bottom 19 of the door 10. The door may be made of two or more sections riveted together as at 11. As shown the door 10 is guided between the channels 27 and similar horizontal channels 30 by a rail 34 and roller 35. A cable, attached at one end to a drum 50 integral with the roller 35 and at the other to the bottom of the door, rotates the roller when the door is lowered thus tensioning a spring, anchored at one end to the inside wall of the roller 35 and at the other to the pivot thereof, which on raising, urges the door upwards by means of the cable. In another embodiment (not shown), the door is wound on to a drum or drums, each containing a spring similarly tensioned on lowering of the door. Counterbalancing means such as weights or helical springs fitted to the inside edge of the door may be substituted for the springs.
