Abstract
796,448. Filters. STAMICARBON N.V. March 20, 1956 [March 25, 1955], No. 8709/56. Addition to 791,520. Class 46. Liquid containing solids in suspension is introduced under pressure at 1 to the interior of a drum 2 whence it is discharged from a nozzle 7 along a spiral screening deck 8 which has interwound with it an imperforate spiral plate 9. The region 10 between the concave side of the deck 8 and the plate 9 is closed at the sides by rubber strips 11, and from the end 14 of the space so formed there emerge a little liquid and either all the solids or the " oversize " fraction of them. The region 12 between the convex side of the deck 8 and the plate 9 is divided by axial partitions 13 in open-sided spaces from which flows axially most of the liquid (with the " undersize " fraction of solids if present). The suspension may be introduced at 14 and the solids or " oversize " fraction collected in the drum 2. The deck 8 may comprise bars extending perpendicularly to the direction of curvature as in the parent Specification or it may comprise a perforated plate as in Specification 791,857.
