Classes 100(2) and 100(4) In printing apparatus of the kind comprising a base on which a printing plate is detachably mounted, and where an impression element, e.g. a roller, is provided, means is provided for obtaining an impression from the printing plate comprising a sheet of transfer material mounted on a support or supports of cardboard or other stiff material, the support or supports being detachably secured to the apparatus to position the transfer sheet in interposed relation to the printing plate and the impression element. As shown, the machine includes a base 1 (Fig. 1) upon which is mounted a relief plate a. The printing head 3 including a reciprocable impression roller 5 is pivoted at 4 to the base 1, the roller being reciprocable through linkage 6, 10 by depressing a hand lever 8. The suface of the roller 5 projects slightly below the undersurface 3a of the head 3 to which are secured a pair of bars 11. and co-operating clips 16 urged towards the bars 11 by a spring 17. Beneath the clips 16 and bars 11 is positioned an ink or carbon impregnated transfer member comprising a supporting frame 12 (Fig. 3) of cardboard or other stiff material having an opening 13 in which is mounted a A transfer sheet 1 coated or impregnated on one or both sides, is attached to a support 2, Fig. 1, or supports 11, Fig. 3, of cardboard or other relatively stiff material transfer sheet 14. The frame 12 has cut away portions 15a for postioning against projection 19 on the undersufrace 3a. In a second embodiment the transfer sheet 20 (Fig. 6) is secured at each end to the supports 21a which co-operate with a support 22 fixed to the underside of the head 3 at one end of the sheet 20 and a support 24 at the other end.
