Abstract

795,826. Nuclear reactors. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Aug. 1, 1956 [Aug. 11, 1955], No. 23238/55. Class 39(4). In a gas cooled nuclear reactor a graphite moderating core has vertical channels for the fuel elements and cooling gases, and is supported inside a concrete pressure vessel. As shown, the cooling gas enters through the inlets 7, and passes upwards through the grid support 2 and the core 1 to the outlets 8. Gas seal 9, between 1 and the concrete pressure vessel 3 causes all gas to flow through the core 1. The inner surface of 3 has a metal lining 10. Fuel is inserted by charging machine 5 and is discharged through vessel 6. Specifications 785,945 and 789,022 are referred to.
