Abstract

An anti-perspirant stick comprises a soap gel base chosen from the group consisting of sodium stearate-aqueous propylene glycol soap gels or sodium stearate-aqueous alcohol soap gels, and having incorporated as the active ingredient, sodium zirconium lactate. The propertions of the ingredients are such as to depress the ionization of the sodium zirconium lactate below a level at which the zirconium ions will react with the sodium stearate. The precise proportions may vary but the indicated limits of the primary constituents are: alcohol 17.65 per cent minimum to 75 per cent maximum; water 4 per cent to 14 per cent; sodium stearate 2 per cent to 7 per cent; and sodium zirconium lactate (43.95 per cent solution) 5 per cent to 75 per cent. The ingredients of the soap gel stick are mixed together and melted and the desired quantity of sodium zirconium lactate solution is added together with deodorant materials such as hexachlorophene, or moisture retention agents such as carbitol and the mixture allowed to set p in moulds; perfumes may be added if desired just prior to pouring into moulds.
