Abstract
A solid air-freshening product contains an active substance which is present in a gel formed from the metal soap with a gelling action and paraffin and which gradually evaporates from the gel. The metal soap acts in this case as the actual carrier material which does not evaporate. The paraffin, however, which has an evaporation number at 20 DEG C of from 8 to 1000, based on that of diethyl ether being 1, evaporates together with the evaporating active substance, especially an odour destroyer or a perfume or a mixture of these active substances, from the carrier material while substantially retaining the external appearance of the product and shrinkage of its volume. The product contains an amount of water which is sufficient for complete gelling of the metal soap with the paraffin. The metal soap preferably consists of sodium stearate. The product can contain an agent which lowers its solidification point, preferably a liquid glycol, e.g. 1,2-propylene glycol.
