Abstract
795,740. Regulating switches. BRUSH ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. March 28, 1956 [Nov. 25, 1955], No. 33802/55. Class 38 (5). An actuating mechanism for a diverter switch comprises a shaft driving two cam discs, one of which rocks a lever to compress one end of a spring and the other cam serves to release the built-up energy in an overcentre lever device connected to the switch. The former cam a is engaged by a roller k on a lever i pivoted at x, and the releasing cam b is engaged by a roller t on a bellcrank lever n pivoted at m. The free end of lever i is pivoted at j to a compression spring device comprising springs u, v and telescopic parts w, 7, the other end of said device being pivoted to the roller t. Clockwise rotation of the shaft c causes the roller k to be moved to the right by cam surface a<SP>1</SP> so as to tilt the lever i and compress springs u, v. Just before the dead-centre position is reached, roller k engages the circular surface a2, and the roller t is pushed to the left by cam surface b<SP>5</SP> to move the mechanism over-centre. thereby rotating lever n counter-clockwise to operate the switch s. Further rotation causes the parts to return to the position shown. The cam surfaces may be formed on opposite faces of a single disc, and two coupled shafts may be used.
