Abstract

Class 20(4) A metal reinforcement unit for concrete posts comprises a number of longitudinal metal rods 2 spaced apart by transverse tie wires 3 welded to the rods, one or each end of each wire 3 being extended at 5 beyond the adjacent rod 2 and initially bent to form an open hook 6, the wires 3 being bent afterwards to the required cross-sectional form of unit as shown with all the iods 2 lying around its perimeter and the hooks 6 engaged with one of the rods or with each other at each wire and then closed. As shown, four rods 2 are provided and each wire 3 has one end resting on a rod 2 whilst its other end 5 projects and is formed as the hook 6, the resulting reinforcement unit being square in plan. In modifications the unit is circular, rectangular, triangular, or other polygonal shape in plan. In another form the ends 7 of two or more rods 2 are bent over to locate the unit in the mould. Alternatively bent-out formations on the wires or elements welded on to the wires and rods may perform the same function. In another embodiment both ends of each tie wire extend beyond the adjacent rods and the ends are hooked together.
