Class 20(4) [Also, in Group XXX] The upper surfaces 1 of the treads of stairs are inclined downwardly with respect to the horizontal h in the direction from the free edges 2 of the treads towards the rear edges thereof. As shown in Figs. 2 and 3, a transverse water-collecting channel disposed at the base of each tread is in communication with a central conduit 4 or lateral channels 5. The slope of the treads may be between 4 and 10 degrees and the surfaces 1 may be plane or concave or a combination thereof, and smooth or striated.
