Abstract
794,898. Semi-conductor devices. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 26, 1955 [Feb. 9, 1954], No. 3806/54. Class 37. An hermetically sealed crystal valve comprises an envelope consisting of two coaxial tubular flanged metal members 1 and 2 joined and sealed at their flanges by glass, and the terminal leads of the valve being supported by metal elements 6 and 7 which are sealed in the tubular portions of the members. As described, the component consists of a semi-conductor element 8 and a whisker 9. In order to avoid damage to the semi-conductor by heat, the metal members 1 and 2 are first sealed together by means of the glass portion 5 then element 6 with the semiconductor 8 is inserted in and sealed to member 1 by solder 11, and finally element 7 with whisker 9 is placed in position and sealed by solder 12.
