Abstract

794,871. Preventing corrosion. METALL. GES. AKT.-GES. July 23, 1956 [Aug. 3, 1955], No. 22772/56. Class 123(1) A sacrificial anode for the cathodic protection against corrosion of metallic structures consists of a body made of zinc, or a alloy rich in zinc, alloyed with mercury, the latter being present in a proportion of at least 0.03 per cent, the exact mercury content depending on the purity of the zinc or on the content of zinc in the said alloy. Thus 0.03 to 0.1 per cent of mercury is alloyed with refined zinc of 99.995 per cent purity whilst 0.1 to 0.3 per cent is alloyed with crude zinc of 98.5 per cent purity.
