Abstract

794,624. Valves. ESCHLER, M., [trading as ESCHLER URANIA-ACCESSOIRES, M.]. March 20, 1956 [March 21, 1955], No. 8595/56. Class 135. A valve comprises a cylindrical piston slidable in a bore in a casing and filled with a rubber or like closure member 6, which as the closure member moves from one limiting position to another alternately closes a port 7 with one of its ends and a passage 8 with the other end. The hollow piston 2 has an inwardly projecting ridge 5 which lies in a complementary groove in the closure member 6. The lower projecting part of the closure member 6 may have an upwardly curved lip which lies resiliently against the wall of the bore in the casing and prevents back flow of oil from the outlet port 10 to the inlet port 7. Fluid under pressure enters through the port 7, lifts the valve against the action of a spring 4 and presses the upper end of the closure member 6 against the passage 8 to close it. The fluid can then pass through port 10 to charge a dosing chamber. When the dosing chamber contains the desired quantity the flow of fluid through passage 7 is interrupted so that the spring 4 presses the piston 3 downwardly to close passage 7 and open passage 8 to permit the dosing chamber to discharge.
