Abstract

793,454. Automatic bobbin changing looms. GLEDHILL, W. V. July 3, 1956 [April 4, 1955], No. 9729/55. Class 142(2) The weft end extending from the cloth to the magazine is held clear of the shuttle path by means comprising two members arranged to guide the weft end towards an opening between them and so disposed that the thread must bend in order to pass through the opening. In one form, the two members are rods 22, 24, the pointed ends of which overlap, and one rod 24 forms a pocket 25 to receive the weft end. A member 38 on the slay strikes the welt end and moves it between the members 22, 24 at beat-up. In another form, the rod 24 is replaced by a cranked bracket having at its free end a pivoted triangular member so mounted that the weft end tilts it to facilitate the entry of the weft end between the overlapping ends of the triangular member and the rod 22. The device may be combined with a weft grabber as described in Specification 764,595.
