Abstract
792,740. Contacting gases with liquids. ABBEY, A. (Dow chemical Co.). May 23, 1956, No. 15999/56. Class 55 (2). [Also in Group XIII] A packing for gas-liquid contact apparatus comprises a number of corrugated sheets arranged in a unit, each sheet having lontgitudinal corrugations 12, and two sets of transverse corrugations 17 and reinforcing ribs 18 on one or both sides of the sheet. The upper and lower transverse corrugations are preferably off-set relatively to each other and the ribs 18 serve to space the sheets. The units are arranged in tiers, the sheets in one tier being at 90 degrees to the sheets in adjacent tiers. The sheets may be made of metal, resin impregnated paper or fibre-board, concrete, ceramics or other mouldable material and are in an example 21 inches high and 37 inches long.
