Abstract

792,477. Transformers. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 17, 1956 [Aug. 17, 1955], No. 23724/55. Class 38 (2)._ In order to conduct heat away from a laminated magnetic core in electromagnetic apparatus, a cooling member consisting of a plate 1a with a water tube 1b welded thereto is arranged adjacent the edges of the laminations and a layer of good heatconducting material 3 is disposed between the plate and the laminations to give efficient heat transference. The material 3 may be a soft solid metal, a metal foil (e.g. indium foil), or a powdered metal in a thermosetting binder (e.g. copper powder in epoxy resin) applied as a paste and subsequently set.
