Abstract

792,220. Carburetters. SOLEX. Oct. 8, 1956 [Oct. 15, 1955], No. 30639/56. Class 7(3) In an installation comprising a carburetter with a starting device (i.e: a device capable of adjusting the richness and volume of the mixture in order to permit starting of the engine from cold e.g. an air strangler) and thermosensitive means e.g. a bimetallic strip 8 for bringing the starting device' out of action after the engine has been started, - the thermosensitive means being exposed to exhaust gases from the engine passing through a by-pass 7, the inner wall of the exhaust pipe is provided .between the inlet and outlet of the by-pass with a stationary means for causing a substantial amount of the exhaust gases to pass through the by-pass. The stationary means as shown are for instance constituted by a constriction 28 of the inner wall of the exhaust pipe. Deflecting means 10a, 11a may also be provided. The bimetallic strip is fixed to a spindle 9, the free end of the spindle carrying a lever 14 which operates the starting device. Advantageously the spindle carries a plate 20 so arranged as to leave the part 10 open when the strip 8 is cold and to close the port when the spindle has been rotated into,the position where it opens the air strangler 3, Fig. 1, (not shown). Theinstallation may be a car power plant.
