A butterfly carburetor of the above type for an internal combustion engine, characterized by a horizontal mixing duct, and an air inlet section mounted at one end of said duct, said air inlet section comprising a venturi portion, a portion throttle, and a filter portion including a filter element, these sections being formed of sheet metal, a throttle valve being arranged in said throttle portion adjacent and anterior to said venturi, a fuel metering tube extending from a fuel bowl made of cup-shaped sheet metal through the cup lid into the mixing duct adjacent and posterior to said venturi.
