Abstract

In making foundry moulds or cores, sand, the grains of which have been coated with an adherent film of resin and dried, is used direct upon or in a heated ungreased metal pattern or core-box. The sand grains are coated with phenol-formaldehyde resin by mixing the sand and the resin dissolved in alcohol with hexamethylene tetramine until a dry free-flowing material is obtained.ALSO:In making foundry moulds or cores, sand, the grains of which have been coated with an adherent film of resin and dried, is used direct upon or in a heated ungreased metal pattern or core-box.
