Abstract
791,358. Change speed gearing. MOSS GEAR CO., Ltd. Sept. 17, 1956 [Jan. 25, 1956], No. 2419/56. Class 80 (2). The input shaft a of a motor-vehicle gear-box carries a rotatable sun wheel g connected to the shaft through a one-way roller clutch g2 and controllable by a band-brake g4, the input shaft carries planet wheels d meshing with the sun g and an annulus e an extension of which drives the primary gear e2 of a synchromesh gear thus forming an overdrive gear contained within the gear-box c. The band-brake g<SP>4</SP> may be applied under manual control by an hydraulic cylinder fed from an air pump driven from the gear-box layshaft.
