In a process as described in the parent Specification, wherein metal is cast into a slag-filled mould, the metal to be cast is an oxidized ferrous metal containing sulphur, and the composition of the slag is such that it has a de-sulphurizing action, and a reducing agent, e.g. Si, Al, is added to the metal before it is cast.
