Abstract

835,084. Continuous-casting processes. BABCOCK & WILCOX CO. Sept. 16, 1957 [Oct. 1, 1956], No. 29115/57. Drawings to Specification. Class 83 (1). In a continuous-casting process, natural cryolite or an analogue thereof, i.e. a composition containing sodium-fluoride and aluminium-fluoride, is continuously added to the melting-zone to fluidize the slag &c. The additive is in the ratio by weight of 1 part to 25,000-10,000 parts of the melt. The additive is introduced by a screw-feeder and the mould-assembly is similar to that disclosed in Specification 656,386, which is referred to.
