Abstract
788,937. Belt fastening appliances. BELTFASTENERS, Ltd. Dec. 7, 1954 [Oct. 18, 1954], No. 29994/54. Class 80 (1). In a device for securing wire hook fasteners into the end of a belt of the type described in Specifications 776,811 and 776,812, in which clenching jaws carried by a pair of relatively pivotal levers 13, 14 are actuated to close on opposite sides of the belt by mechanism such as bellcrank levers 25, 26 and a screw 34, stop means are provided to limit the closure of the jaws in accordance with the thickness of the belt. Such stop means comprise a pin 39 on a plate 41, the plate passing over a rod 17 forming a support for the device and the pin 39 entering the end of a slot 30 in a guide-plate 31 of the clenching head so as to engage the pivot pin 29 of the bell-cranks 25, 26 which moves in said slot. The plate 41 may have a single pin 39 as in Fig. 5 or it may have several pins 39, 391, 39<SP>11</SP> as in Fig. 6 for different thicknesses of belt. The stop-pin 39 or 39<SP>1</SP>, 39<SP>11</SP> could be replaced by a rotatable eccentric pin to provide a greater range of adjustment.
