788,336. Screwing-up nuts. VICTOR PRODUCTS (WALLSEND), Ltd. Sept. 12, 1955, No. 26058/55. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXIV] A device for screwing up nuts comprises a driving shaft 1 for attachment to a source of rotary power 3 and a shaft 10 driven from shaft 1 through a yielding-drive comprising an epicyclic gear 7, 8, 12, the internally and externally-toothed ring-gear 12 normally being held against rotation by a pinion 13 biased by a spring 16 into engagement with the external teeth of gear 12 and mounted on an eccentric pivot 14, the spring 16 yielding when the torque transmitted exceeds a predetermined value to allow the ring-gear 12 to rotate and the driven shaft 10 to stop while the driving shaft 1 continues to run. Over-meshing between the pinion 13, in a slide 15, and the gear 12 is prevented by discs 21 on the pinion bearing on the circumference of the gear 12 at each side of its teeth, The ring-gear is fixed to the casing 23, 24 of the device by screws 25. Dust seals 26 are provided between a nut-socket 4 and the casing element 23, and between the casing elements 23, 24 and an intermediate section 20, which carries a side-spur for preventing its rotation by bearing against the feed-bar of the drill 3 with which the device may be used.
