Abstract
788,185. Heat-exchangers. AKTIEBOLAGET SEPARATOR. April 26,1955 [June 28, 1954], No. 12003/55. Class 64(3) Relates to heat exchangers in which a thick plate 1 (Fig. I) embodying fluid connections is incorporated in a bank of heat transfer plates. According to the invention, the fluid connections are detachably received in recesses 4 in the corners of the plate 1, each connection being capable of being secured in any one of the recesses in one or in a number of alternative positions. In the form shown, each connection comprises a tubular member 5 having either a cylindrical (as shown) or polygonal exterior shape, the recess 4 being similarly shaped. One or more branch pipes e.g. 6, 7 extend radially from the member 5 and threaded holes 12 (Fig. II) provided in the member 5 enable the branch pipes to be located in one of two alternative positions spaced 90 degrees apart and to be secured in place by set-screws 3. The member 5 may be partitioned to enable two separate fluids to flow through the connection to or from the adjacent heat transfer plates.
