A reciprocable rod 9 carrying a scraping blade 10, rasp or other tool, is connected by a ball-and-socket joint 8 to an arm 7 fixed on a non-rotatable spindle 20 which is wobbled by a rotating shaft 3, the axis of the spindle 20 being adjustably inclined to the axis of the shaft 3 to vary the stroke of the blade 10. The spindle 20 is mounted, through a ball bearing 6, in a part-spherical cup 5 pivotally adjustable, on trunnions 17, in a head 4 on the shaft 3, adjustment of the inclination of spindle 20 being effected by a threaded spindle 11 in the head 4 engaging a nut 12 coupled to the cup 5. The end of the arm 7 is slidable in the ball 8 and its axis passes through the intersection of the axes of the spindle 20 and trunnions 17. The shaft 3 may be hand-driven or be power-driven by a flexible or other shaft. A bulge 15 on the casing 1 forms a hand grip, and a preferably-adjustable leather strap 14 forms a guard.
