Abstract

787,029. Reclaiming material from piles. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Oct. 17, 1955 [Nov. 4, 1954], No. 31949/54. Class 78 (4). The bridge 1 (Fig. 4) of a reclaimer for harrowing material from a pile can be tipped about the axis of its rear wheels 3 so that the usual transverse conveyer 39 can be raised during rearward travel of the bridge. In the construction illustrated, the bridge is tilted by a pair of hydraulic rams 27 (Fig. 6) acting between pivots 28 on the bridge and shaft 29 on which front bogies 5 are mounted. The axles 22, 23 of the front bogies are driven through worms 18 from shafts 17 carried in the bogies and driven in turn from worms 15 driven through universal couplings 12 (Fig. 1) from shafting 11 driven through gearing 9, 10 from a motor 8. The harrow 42 is reciprocated horizontally by an eccentric 43 driven through gearing 38 from shafting 36 driven through chain or rope gearing 37 from a motor 35. The output from the gear units 38 is also connected through ratchet couplings 41 to drive the transverse ccnveyer 39 in either direction. The transverse conveyer 39 comprises the normal plough conveyer and its bottom run may be arranged level with the track for the bridge bogies so that it delivers to longitudinal conveyers disposed in tunnels below the track, or the conveyer 39 may be disposed above the track to delivery to a longitudinal conveyer carried by the same surface as the track. Specifications 534,034 and 572,039 are referred to.
