Abstract
786,814. X-ray apparatus. AUERGES, AKT.-GES. Aug. 25, 1955 [Aug. 26, 1954; Feb. 9, 1955], No. 24456/55. Class 98(1) [Also in Group-XL(a)] Apparatus for measuring the intensity of a beam of radiation comprises a luminescent screen adapted to be excited by the radiation and disposed in the end of a tube fitting the observer's eye in light tight manner, the screen having an aperture through which can be seen a disc bearing a number of luminous comparison fields of different intensity and which can be rotated to match the illumination from the screen with that from one of the comparison fields. As shown the tube 2 is telescopic and is attached to a face mask 1 carrying a lens 6 by which the luminescent screen 8 may be observed. Rotatable on the tube 2 is a member 22 bearing a disc 16 through which the radiation to be measured can pass and which carries comparison fields 17 visible through an aperture 12 in the screen 8. The setting of the member 22 may be observed by the other eye of the observer by reflection in a mirror 26 hinged to the mask. Alternatively the mirror may be omitted and the scale read directly after the mask has been removed. In a modification the disc 16 is mounted on a shaft rotatable about the axis of the tube 2.
