Abstract

786,188. Packaging. TYE & SON, Ltd., J. Feb. 15, 1954 [Nov. 13, 1952], No. 28698/52. Class 94(1). [Also in Group XXVIII] Sealed containers of thermoplastic material filled with liquid are produced by filling and sealing transversely a flexible tubular structure which is provided with a pair of longitudinal fins 11 a, 11b, connected thereto along lines of weakness 16 and having holes 23 adapted to be engaged by pins, sprocket teeth or the like serving to locate the tube in working position for printing, sealing &c. The structure may be formed by extruding thermoplastic material or welding together the longitudinal edges of two opposed strips of such material. As shown, two similar tubes 10a, 10b, are interconnected by a central fin 11b and have side fins 11a. After the containers have been formed, the fins are removed by cutting or tearing along the lines 16. According to the Provisional Specification the tube is first filled with gas to separate the walls, the material to be packed may be in powder form, and the apertures may be replaced by indentations.
