Abstract
785,856. Waveguides. SPERRY RAND CORPORATION. Jan. 4, 1956, No. 366/56. Class 40 (8). [Also in Group XL (c)] A waveguide lens (see Group XL (c)) comprises a plurality of dispersive rectangular waveguides each loaded to reduce the critical frequency of a longitudinal conductive slotted ridge parallel to the E-plane, Figs. 6-9 (not shown), or by two such opposed ridges 29, 31, as shown. In the latter case the height 2b of the waveguide is such that the guide is equivalent to two waveguides joined together with the common wall removed and additional loading may be provided by a dielectric strip 33 between the ridges. In all cases the loading depends upon the height and thickness of the ridge and upon the depth, width and spacing of the slots and any of these parameters may be varied along the waveguide.
