Abstract
785,802. Warming devices on aircraft. SPECIALTIES DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. June 14, 1955 [July 20, 1954], No. 17054/55. Class 4. [Also in Group XXXVII] Apparatus for generating an electric signal in the event of excessive movement of an aircraft element, such as an engine, comprises a housing 10 formed with bearings 15, 16 for aligned, threadedly connected, rods 17, 19. The rod 17 carries a collar 27 which is engaged by a spring 20 to urge the end of rod 17 into contact with a pad 5 on the engine (not shown). The rod 19 has a length 31 of reduced diameter and opposed cam faces 32, 34 which are suffiiciently spaced to ensure that normal vibrations of the engine and resulting axial movements of rods 17, 19 do not bring the faces into contact with a roller 24. This roller is mounted on a spring arm 22 secured to a switch 11 having leads secured to a connector 25 and a plunger 21 and excessive movement of the engine causes one of the faces 32, 34 to bear on the roller 24, thereby depressing the arm 22 and closing the switch.
