Abstract

785,002. Turbine and compressor rotors. POWER JETS (RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT), Ltd. March 12, 1956 [April 20, 1955], No. 11370/55. Class 110 (3). A rotor for a turbine or compressor comprises at least two axially successive discs having on their adjacent faces annular, axially-abutting locating faces, the face on one disc being formed with a circumferentially-extending annular rib having oppositely-tapered flanks which engages between the flanks of a correspondingly tapered circumferentially extending groove formed in the face of the other disc. In the multi-stage axial-flow compressor rotor shown, the end discs 1a each have a single cylindrical flange 3 and the intermediate discs 1 each have two cylindrical flanges 3 on opposite sides thereof, the abutting faces of the flanges being formed with interengaging circumferentially-extending ribs and grooves 7 of screw-thread profile. The flanges 3 are formed with a plurality of bosses 4 which are bored to receive through bolts 5 which serve to retain the discs together. The two end discs have bearer members 6 for supporting the rotor in bearings.
