Abstract

784,719. Pleating fabrics. CROSLAND, P. F. Feb. 21, 1956 [Feb. 22, 1955], No. 5194/55. Drawings to Specification. Class 141. Radial pleats are formed in a substantially triangular piece of fabric by passing the fabric between two heated conical rollers provided with corresponding grooves and ridges which diminish in width and depth from the larger to the smaller end of each roller. For durable pleating, thermoplastic fabric may be used. Alternatively a cellulosic fabric may be impregnated with a solution containing thermosetting materials and dried prior to its passage between the pleating rollers, and then heated again to condense the thermosetting resin.
