Abstract
784,677. Hot-water boilers. STUCKLIN & CIE. May 14, 1956 [March 28, 1956], No. 14883/56. Class 64(1) A hot-water boiler comprises a combustion chamber 1, a heat exchange chamber 3 having flue gas inlets and outlets to 4a and 6, and pockets 5 having open upper ends to permit circulation of liquid therein by convection. The pockets are of wedge-shaped section and are welded to slots in a closing wall 8 and a cover plate 7, the spaces between the pockets being of uniform width from front to rear. Cold water enters the boiler through a pipe 13 and passes by way of crescent-shaped water chambers 9a and 10a to the rear part of the pockets 5 in which it subsides before rising in the front part of the pockets to the outlet pipe 12. An oil burner 2 may be replaced by a door and a refractory brick lining 4 may be dispensed with if the boiler is to be coal fired. The flues may be cleaned by removing a rear wall.
