Abstract

783,906. Switch handles; indicators for switches. ENGLISH TELEPHONE CO., Ltd. April 10, 1956 [April 12, 1955], No. 10544/55. Class 38 (5). A control knob 10 for a push button switch has one face 13 formed with a recess 14 in which fits a legend-bearing tablet 19 and a transparent plate 20 for protecting the tablet. The plate is provided with a 'perpendicular lug 22 which fits in a recess in the base of the knob and is provided with a hole 24 through which the switch stem 11 passes thereby retaining the plate in position. Spring clips in the knob engage the stem 11. In modifications in which the tablet is disposed on the top face of the knob : (a) the legs of a U-shaped protective member grip the side walls; (b) the perpendicular lug of the protective plate extends down one side wall and underneath the base of the knob and is again provided with an aperture.
