Abstract

The invention comprises 4,5-diamino-6-mercaptopyrimidine and its preparation by heating 4-amino-5-nitro-6-chloropyrimidine with an excess of an ammonium or an alkali metal hydrosulphide. An excess of potassium hydrosulphide is preferably used and hydrogen sulphide may be passed through the hot reaction mixture. An example is given.
