Abstract
782,447. Lace-making. PYCROFT, H. L., and READER, S. June 14, 1955 [Feb. 16, 1955], No. 4574/55. Class 74 (1). A lace-net machine warp guide 6 (e.g. the background bar of a bobbinet machine) is built up from a plurality of sections, each having at least two parallel rows of equally spaced apertures 19, the apertures of one row being staggered relatively to those of the next adjacent row. Mating ends of the sections are inclined at 25, 26 to be substantially parallel to the line of controls of two next adjacent apertures in the two rows, as shown. In extent along the rows, any aperture overlaps the two immediately adjacent apertures in the other row, so that any warp threads which pass through apertures 20 in jacquard bars 5 may have sufficient freedom of relative movement, when the jacquard bars are shogged relatively to one another, to enable, say, warp threads A, B to be sufficiently closely approximated under control of jacquard bars 5, to be wrapped as one by a bobbin thread: the bobbinet pattern may thus be superimposed on the plain background net formed by the interaction of the bobbin threads, the back warp threads passing through wire eyes 22 on slidable bars 24 and the front warp threads passing through the apertures 19 in the warp guide, all sections of which are shogged in unison by a bar 18. The sections 6 may be of flat sheet material (e.g. brass) cast into a block of lead or lead alloy. After leaving the beam 2, the warp threads pass through a separator 4.
