Abstract

822,317. Making thread guides for knitting- machines. F.N.F. MACHINERY MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. April 3, 1958 [Feb. 26, 1957], No. 6455/57. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group VIII] In a flat warp knitting-machine, the warp thread guides pass not between the needles but over them and are so shaped that each warp thread moves through its thread guide in a plane parallel to the planes in which lie the needle hooks, instead of being forced into an S-shape as in conventional guides. In one embodiment (Fig. 6) the edges of metal sheets are bent into channel-shaped sections 41, 42 and a series of slots 43, 44 are milled into the bottom of the channels. In another form (Fig. 7) tubes 46 are cast side-by-side into blocks 50 and are open at their lower ends 47 and have openings 48 milled into their side walls. In a third form (Figs. 8, 9), loops 51 of wire are formed in pairs and cast side-by-side into a metal block 53.
