782,367. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. OFFICINE GALILEO SOC. PER AZIONI. Nov. 16, 1954 [Nov. 18, 1953], No. 33164/54. Class 135. An hydraulic, follow-up servomotor system comprises a differential piston 5 to the righthand, smaller face of which pressure fluid is constantly applied from a supply conduit 12 through a passage 11 whilst the left-hand side is connected through passage 6 with either the pressure fluid supply or an exhaust 121 depending upon the position of a pilot valve 9 which is connected to the armature 15 of an electromagnetic device. The armature cooperates with pole-pieces 17, 18 energized by windings 20 and moved about a pivotal mounting 16 in response to variations of a signal current in a winding 21. A second winding 22 on the armature receives alternating current to provide " dither ". A sleeve 7 in which the pilot valve operates is rotatable by gearing 46 to reduce static friction. Manual control of the servomotor is effected by movement of a lever 24 which closes a valve 29 in the passage 6 and simultaneously engages a clutch 30 whereby rotation of a shaft 31 causes, through gearing 33, 36 and a lever 38, operation of a pilot valve 40 mounted within the piston 5. When control is effected by the valve 9 the valve 40 is locked to the piston 1 in the neutral position, the locking means being operated by the lever 24.
