Abstract

Fluoride is removed in the preparation of dicalcium phosphate from wet process phosphoric acid by neutralizing the acid with an alkaline compound of calcium, e.g. lime or calcium carbonate, to a pH range 2.9-3.1; removing the precipitate, which is mainly fluoride; and then neutralizing the residual acid to precipitate dicalcium phosphate.
