Abstract

<FORM:0781493/III/1> A gluing-machine having rotatable gluing rollers has a glue tank with a rotatable stirrer mounted on the machine with the stirrer shaft coupled to a shaft of one of the gluing rollers whereby rotation of the gluing roller effects mixing of glue ingredients in the glue tank. Two gluing rollers 15 are mounted in bearings 14 on end frames 10 joined by a transverse member 11 supporting a tray 12. Each roller has a glue trough 16. The shaft of the lower roller has a clutch 44b which co-operates with a clutch 44a on a shaft 40 carrying stirrers 42 rotating in a glue tank 31. The tank has at each end a mounting member 35 which is flat at the bottom and has two apertures so that it can be slid along two supporting rollers 29 mounted in bosses 19 on a plate 17 on frames 10. A lid 21 having a grille 23 is mounted on two supports 20 mounted in bosses 18 on the plate 17. Powder glue ingredients are introduced into the tank through the grille and liquid ingredients through the gap between the lid and end wall of the tank when it is being positioned on the bars 29. Rotating the idlers causes the stirring shaft to be driven and the glue stirred in the tank ready for use by removing the tank from the machine. The tank may be a permanent part of the machine with a control for the clutch and with a valve for running off the glue to a smaller receptacle to refill the troughs 16. The upper gluing roller 15 is vertically adjustable with respect to the lower roller.
