Abstract

781,460. Endless abrading &c. bands DARBY, H. F. Feb. 23, 1955 [Nov. 27, 1953], No. 32934/53. Class 109 An endless band for abrading and polishing purposes, comprises two layers 10, 11 secured together to form a band of substantially constant thickness, the layers each comprising a plurality of portions the side edges of which extend obliquely across the band, the portions being so arranged that in the outer layer 10 only the trailing half of each portion is presented to abrade or polish an article, the non-lifting edge 14 of each abrading half facing in the direction of motion 16 of the band. In the embodiment of Fig. 2, inner layers 12, 13 are attached to the outer layers 10, 11 the non- lifting edge 15 of the layer 13 facing the direction of motion 16. Channels 17 assist in the reception and dispersion of dust. The layers may be of plastic, canvas, leather, cloth, paper or wire guaze and may be cemented together.
