Abstract
781,080. Packaging. REED CORRUGATED CASES, Ltd. (Paige, R. E.). Aug. 18, 1955 [Sept. 2, 1954], No. 25521/54. Class 94(1). A wrapping or packaging structure formed from corrugated or like compressible material 3 disposed between outer layers 2, has a main body part 5 having at at least one end a transverse cushioning member formed by folding the blank over on itself in zig-zag formation at 7, 8 and 9. The blank in Fig. 1 is folded along the lines 4 and then along the lines 6 to form the structure illustrated in side elevation, Fig. 4, and in end section, Fig. 3. To facilitate folding, the outer layers may be cut through. The structures are employed as buffer means for packaging articles and may be made in tubular form to give the structure illustrated in side elevation in Fig. 11. In a further embodiment the material is folded to form a sleeve suitable for fitting into a rectangular box for packing an article that is larger at one end than at the other.
