In an end closure 3 (Fig. 2, not shown) for a tubular box 1 with end flaps 2, side flaps 5 (Fig. 1, not shown) each divided into a first portion 6 and a second portion 7 by a fold line 8 are folded around the end flaps 2 (Fig. 2) on the box and extensions 12 on a pair of opposed side flaps 5 are folded around adjacent corners of the box to lie between the first and second portions 6, 7 of the other flaps 5. In a preferred embodiment the second portions 7 on the other pair of opposed flaps 5 are divided by a fold line 10 to provide a lead-in portion 11. The extensions 12 are divided by a fold line or cut 14. The extensions 12 may be folded to be between the end flaps 2 and the first portion 6. The box and closure are preferably made with double back corrugated paper and a closure may be applied at one or both ends. When used for packing articles such as refrigerators, an article is placed on the central panel 4 of the closure, the tubular box 1 is placed around the article and the corresponding flaps are engaged. A further closure is then applied at the other end.
